Description
This metal cooking pot, known in some Arab regions as a “foul pot” or “damasa,” is a specialized cooking vessel traditionally used for slowly cooking fava beans. It features a classic pear-shaped design (rounded at the bottom and narrow at the top) and double side handles.
Key Features and Uses
Traditional Shape: The pear shape helps the beans cook slowly and evenly, ensuring that condensed steam returns to the bottom regularly, keeping the beans moist and preventing them from drying out or burning.
Material: Typically made of high-purity aluminum (99.7%), an excellent material for efficient heat conduction. Stainless steel versions are also available.
Handles: Equipped with two sturdy side handles (often stainless steel) for easy carrying and control, even when the pot is full.
Lid: Comes with a tight-fitting lid (of the same material) to help seal in steam and ensure optimal cooking. Versatile use: Its primary use is for simmering beans, but it can also be used to cook foods that require slow cooking over low heat, such as soups or stews.
